Building the model Hummer for the Ultraman series.
A group of us sat around a table with the Japanese director and worked out the Hummer design. From the concept we had, it became more and more simplified with very little surface detail.
The patterns were made out of wood and silicone moulds made as I had to produce several and different use versions. Lightweight for flying, fragile for exploding, aluminium for working engine flames.
Two scales were made and multiples of the smaller one as well. I normally don’t like seeing images with me in them, but these are the only shots I have as someone else took the pictures.
The other guys built the amazing hanger that I loved seeing my Hummers in.
Setting up the models for the launch sequence. These are the aluminium versions with the working flames and working headlights.
Most of the flying with the large and small models were done on wires. A couple of shots with the larger model was done by firing a light foam version from an air cannon. It flew pretty well.
